Colic and feeding struggles bring many families through the door. But gentle care for little ones is really about supporting the foundation they’re building.
The short answer
No. Many families first come in for colic, reflux, or feeding struggles, and those are valid reasons. But the bigger purpose of pediatric chiropractic is to support how your child’s nervous system develops during its most formative years. Think of it as caring for the foundation, not just responding to a symptom.
How most families find us
Parents usually find their way to me when something feels hard. A baby who cries for hours. A latch that just won’t click. Arching during feeds, or a little one who only turns their head one way.
Those concerns are real, and gentle care can help many babies feel more comfortable. Still, a symptom is often a sign of something underneath, like tension the body is quietly working around.
Building potential, not chasing problems
Early childhood is the period of fastest growth for the brain and nervous system. Developmental research describes the first year as a critical window, a time when disruptions, whether from genetics or the environment, can have lasting effects on how the brain is built and how it functions.
Babies are also wonderfully adaptable. When something is off, such as tension from a long labor, their bodies find a workaround. That’s a strength, but it can come at a cost. A baby might skip a stage like crawling, or settle into a lopsided way of moving, and keep compensating long after.
These patterns are often subtle in infancy. They can become more noticeable later, when school and daily life ask more of the nervous system.
I don’t think of pediatric care as fixing a problem. I think of it as giving your child’s body room to move freely and feel calm, so development can unfold as smoothly as possible.

Common doesn’t always mean normal
A lot of things are common in babies today: persistent fussiness, feeding difficulty, a favorite head-turn side. Common doesn’t always mean it’s the best your child’s body can do.
Gently looking into these patterns early gives your child more room to adapt well. And if everything looks great, that’s wonderful to know too.
What to expect at your visit
At reluume, every visit moves at your child’s pace. Here’s the general flow:
- A conversation first. We talk through pregnancy, birth, feeding, sleep, and milestones.
- A head-to-toe look. I assess posture, movement, muscle tone, and tension patterns.
- A feeding check when it helps. As an IBCLC (a board-certified lactation consultant), I also look closely at feeding and oral function.
- Gentle adjustments. I use gentle adjustments with light pressure, and I explain each step as we go.
- A plan you understand. We talk about what I found and what makes sense next, including when another provider should be part of your team.
Questions parents ask
Can a healthy baby benefit from chiropractic care?
Many parents choose a check-up even when things seem fine, because birth and early life put real demands on a baby’s body. An assessment can reveal tension patterns before they become habits.
Does chiropractic replace my pediatrician?
No. Chiropractic care works alongside your pediatrician and other providers. It’s supportive care, not a replacement for medical care.
How early can my baby be seen?
Newborns can be seen in the first days or weeks of life. Techniques are adapted to their size and comfort.
